Construct a 1:2 rectangle and divide its length into three equal parts. The bands run the full height without outlines, charges, or separations. Green must meet the staff; reversing the flag places orange incorrectly at the hoist.
Historical record
Thomas Francis Meagher first flew the tricolor at 33 The Mall in Waterford on 7 March 1848. It appeared over the General Post Office during the 1916 Rising, was adopted by the Irish Free State in 1922, and was formally confirmed as the national flag by the 1937 Constitution.
