Bangladesh’s current national flag has a red disc on a bottle-green rectangle. The hoist-to-fly ratio is 3:5. The disc sits halfway up the field and slightly toward the hoist; its radius is one-fifth of the fly length. [2]
Specification
Article 4(2) of the Constitution defines a red circle on green. Article 3 and the Second Schedule of President’s Order No. 130 of 1972 supply the detailed specification. “National Flag” is the statutory designation used here. [1]
Physical color specification
The Second Schedule names Procion Brilliant Green H-2RS at 50 parts per 1000 for the field, and Procion Brilliant Orange H-2RS at 60 parts per 1000 for the red disc. The dye name “Orange” does not change the legal description of the disc as red. [1]

Construction notes
For a fly length L, set the hoist to 0.6L, the disc radius to 0.2L, and its center to (0.45L, 0.3L), measured from the upper hoist corner. These are direct conversions of the Second Schedule’s 10-by-6-foot example. The resulting diameter is two-thirds of the hoist. [1]
In the specimen’s 10 × 6 viewBox, the circle is at (4.5, 3), radius 2. Its center is 0.5 unit closer to the hoist than the field’s midpoint. The oversized background rectangle is clipped by the SVG viewport; the visible field has the prescribed ratio. This is geometric verification of an editorial specimen, not certification of manufactured cloth. [5]
Historical record
The Bangladesh Embassy’s 2019 independence-anniversary publication dates official adoption to 17 January 1972. That date is distinct from the 31 October 1972 statutory order. [3] [1]
The 1971 predecessor carried a yellow map inside the red disc; that map was removed in 1972. It is a superseded design and should not be substituted for this current specimen. Symbolism
The High Commission in Kuala Lumpur associates green with vegetation and youthfulness, and the disc with the rising sun of independence after struggle. These are official explanatory interpretations, separate from the legal construction clauses. [4]
Usage
The Flag Rules regulate display on buildings, vehicles, and official occasions. Their published building sizes include 10 × 6, 5 × 3, and 2½ × 1½ feet, all stated fly first. These are prescribed sizes, rather than measurements inferred from photographs. [2]
